Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Singapore high commissioner to India Simon Wong on Thursday discussed strengthening cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Singapore in investment, skill development, infrastructure and cultural ties.

Wong, who was in Lucknow to meet the chief minister, described Adityanath’s visit to Singapore in February as “highly successful”, saying it also sent a positive message about Uttar Pradesh to industrial communities in neighbouring countries.
“The global industrial community now sees Uttar Pradesh as a centre of new opportunities and possibilities, which will play an important role in taking India-Singapore relations to greater heights,” said Wong.
He also appreciated the significant improvements made in the state over the past nine years, particularly in the areas of law and order, infrastructure, and industrial development.
Wong pointed out that Singaporean companies already operating in Uttar Pradesh have described the investment climate as favourable and are actively planning to expand their investments.
The high commissioner further said that a large industrial delegation from Singapore will soon visit Uttar Pradesh to explore investment opportunities across the state and work towards turning potential proposals into concrete investments.
“Singapore is exploring possibilities of cooperation in skill development for the youth of the state, which will create new employment opportunities,” said Wong.
In the context of cultural cooperation, both sides discussed the vast potential of Kushinagar and Sarnath as important Buddhist tourism destinations and agreed to further strengthen partnerships in the tourism sector.
It was also highlighted during the meeting that a comprehensive investment roadmap is being prepared for regions including Noida, Greater Noida, Jhansi and Varanasi among others to accelerate balanced and inclusive development across Uttar Pradesh.
The chief minister said that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies in the country, guided by the mantra of “Reform, Perform, Transform.”
“The government is committed to providing investors with a secure, transparent, and industry-friendly environment,” he reiterated.
Adityanath further noted that the state’s developing industrial corridors, the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, expanding expressway network, and multimodal logistics hubs are providing world-class facilities to investors.
Describing Singapore as a world-class economic and technological partner, the chief minister said: “The state government is ready for long-term and result-oriented cooperation with Singapore in areas such as industrial investment, urban development, logistics, skill development, and tourism.”
He expressed confidence that the upcoming Singapore delegation’s visit will open new avenues of investment and partnership between the two sides.
Adityanath also said that the combination of Singapore’s technological expertise and Uttar Pradesh’s vast potential will pave the way for mutually beneficial cooperation, setting new benchmarks in sustainable development, innovation and employment generation.
