Charged EVs | Talga executes binding Vittangi anode offtake agreement with Nyobolt

Battery materials company Talga has executed a binding offtake agreement with high-power battery charging technology developer Nyobolt for the long-term supply of Talnode-C graphite anode from its Vittangi Anode Project in Sweden.

Nyobolt has validated Talnode-C as a feedstock for its fast-charging battery technology. The offtake agreement follows Talga’s vertically integrated natural graphite mine and anode refinery being designated as Strategic Projects under the European Commission’s Critical Raw Materials Act and the EU Net-Zero Industry Act.

Nyobolt is developing its fast-charge systems for a range of applications including high-performance and heavy-duty vehicles, AI warehouses and data centers. It has secured contract volumes for itself of over $150 million and received a recent investment from Scania Invest, the venture capital arm of Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania, to fuel further expansion.

Under the offtake agreement, Nyobolt has committed to purchasing approximately 3,000 tonnes total of Talnode-C at a fixed price for an initial term of four years commencing from May 2025. Initial supply will come from Talga’s Electric Vehicle Anode (EVA) demonstration plant in Luleå and the balance will be delivered from the company’s commercial Anode Refinery in Luleå, which it plans to start building in 2026 subject to a final investment decision.

Talga says it is in discussions with a number of other potential high-value customers to secure purchase commitments for its remaining Talnode-C production capacity, to further strengthen the anode project’s commercial foundation.

“This agreement marks a milestone in Talga’s mission to deliver sustainable, high-power anode materials to the global battery market,” said Talga Group CEO, Martin Phillips. “The Agreement also underpins the start of commercial sales, and follows extensive qualification and validation in exciting high-power applications that are subject to high growth market demand.”
