UK-based battery development software provider About:Energy’s Voltt software database of commercial battery models now features over 30 high-performance cells across a range of formats and chemistries from the likes of LG, Samsung and Molicel, as well as next-generation developers including Amprius and Inobat.
This expanded library enables customers to evaluate cell selection, thermal strategies and fast charging protocols early in the design process, supporting faster and more confident technical and commercial decisions, according to the company.
The company’s customer base continues to diversify, as it gains growing traction across the space, defense, aviation, drones, automotive and motorsport sectors. Most customers use its models and data to make early design decisions around cell selection, thermal management or fast charging before investing in hardware development.
About:Energy has now tested over 500 commercial cells at its 3,000-square-foot London facility, including 12-month degradation programs that underpin commonly-used simulation models. It collects all its own high-precision data rather than relying on manufacturer specifications or third-party sources, aiming to ensure accuracy and reliability. These models enable engineering teams to make right-first-time decisions, avoiding costly guesswork while accelerating design timelines without compromising accuracy.
“We’re seeing momentum as companies recognize the value of simulation-based battery development. Our platform helps engineers answer critical questions before investing in hardware—whether testing motorsports drive cycles, thermal models for eVTOL missions, or predicting cycle life for drones. The Voltt eliminates the barrier of needing extensive engineering teams and lab facilities to predict battery behaviors,” said Gavin White, co-founder and CEO of About:Energy.
