This royal family tree has grown a new branch.
Prince Laurent, the younger brother of Belgium’s King Philippe, confirmed to Belgian news outlet Belga on September 9 that he has a 25-year-old son.
The 61-year-old, per the outlet, said he “publicly recognizes” the paternity of Clement Vandenkerckhove, which Belga reports confirms a long-standing rumor in the country.
Prince Laurent shares three children—Princess Louise, 21, as well as 19-year-old twins Prince Nicolas and Prince Aymeric—with of 22 yars Claire Coombs.
E! News reached out to the Belgian royal family for comment but has not yet heard back.
For years, according to Belga, there have been rumors of Laurent fathering a child with Belgian actress and singer Wendy van Wanten, whose real name is Iris Vandenkerckhove. His public recognition of Clement confirms the speculation, however doesn’t affect the line of succession in the country.
