The latest Harry Potter audiobook adaptation has a confirmed cast and release date. The new edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, narrated by Cush Jumbo, will be released on Nov. 4, 2025. The books, which are available for preorder now, are published by Pottermore Publishing and Audible Studios, and will be available on Audible.
The star-studded cast will include Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Voldemort, and Riz Ahmed as Snape, with Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton assuming the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione for the first three books.
The ensemble cast will feature over 200 voice actors. It’s the first full-cast audiobook adaptation; Jim Dale and Stephen Fry narrated the US and UK versions, respectively. The books will be available in Dolby Atmos for an immersive experience, and Audible is available for one month free.
The first book will be released in November, with subsequent books arriving monthly; Deathly Hallows, the final book, will be available on May 12, 2026.
The audiobook release comes as a new TV adaptation of the series is in the works at HBO, with John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall. While rumors have swirled about Matt Smith and Cillian Murphy, HBO has not yet confirmed who will play Voldemort.
