Atsuko Okatsuka Sets Debut Netflix Special

Atsuko Okatsuka is bringing her next comedy special to Netflix.

The stand-up hour will debut on the streamer sometime in 2027. It’s her third special overall and first for Netflix.

Produced by Rotten Science, the special is yet to be titled. Okatsuka has been on the road working out new material on “The Big Bowl Tour.” She plays the Netflix Is a Joke festival on May 9 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. She then plays a few gigs in California and Canada before heading to New Zealand and Australia.

Okatsuka’s last special, “Father,” debuted on Hulu in June 2025 as part of the streamer’s Hularious initiative. The hour saw the comedian rocking her signature bowl cut and riffing on being clueless about the basics, like marriage licenses and laundry. Her first full-length special, “The Intruder,” launched on HBO in 2022.

Okatsuka was named one of Variety‘s 10 Comics to Watch in 2022. Her television credits include “History of the World: Part II” and the animated “Fairview,” and she’s been in films like “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and Jonah Hill’s black comedy “Outcome.”

Netflix Is a Joke, which is taking place until May 10 in Los Angeles, also features performances from Jerry Seinfeld, Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Shane Gillis, Katt Williams, John Mulaney and many more. There’s also a Flight of the Conchords reunion and the “Roast of Kevin Hart,” which broadcasts live on the streamer on Sunday.

Okatsuka is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360 and Sechel PR.
