John Leguizamo and his daughter Allegra are set to star in a drama film titled “Bullet Catch.”
Written and directed by David Baram, the film is completing production on Long Beach Island, N.J. The Leguizamos star as an estranged father and daughter in the drama, with supporting cast members Jennifer Esposito (“Fresh Kills”), David Krumholtz (“Oppenheimer”), and Bashir Salahuddin (“Top Gun Maverick”).
According to the logline, “George is a once vibrant lawyer, whose life is unraveling as his career, family life and health are in free fall. George makes one final attempt to reclaim a moment from his past — become a death-defying magician and perform the illusion known as the ‘Bullet Catch.’ His hope is that his embracing life as an artist will reconnect him with his estranged daughter Finn who is an up and coming comedian and performer. George enlists his longtime friends, portrayed by Esposito, Krumholtz, Salahuddin, to help him stage his comeback show, ‘Modern Parlor Magic,’ offering emotional support as George risks everything for one final act of redemption.”
Baram said, “’Bullet Catch’ explores familial relationships, particularly the strained bond between father and daughter and the pursuit of dreams despite adversity.” He continued, “It touches upon themes of identity and self-worth as George grapples with his failures and lost dreams and seeks validation through his pursuit of life as an artist. I’m thrilled to have John and this amazing cast to bring the vision to life.”
The film also offered a unique personal experience for John Leguizamo to work alongside his daughter. “Getting to share the screen with Allegra about a father and daughter trying to find their way back to each other made this project incredibly meaningful,” he said.
The film is produced by Baram and Carolyn Levine with John Leguizamo serving as executive producer. Baram’s 08008 Productions is the production company for the film.
