With RHQ gone, Thug took a few moments to publicly ponder where things went wrong between them. “Never switched on u brada always road with u what happened [crying emoji],” he captioned the clip.

Thugger and Rich Homie Quan rose to prominence alongside one another in the mid-2010s, ushering in a new wave of hip-hop, while teaming up for hits such as Rich Gang’s “Lifestyle” in 2014, which reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

Their relationship soured shortly after in 2015 when Thugger called RHQ “B—h homie Quan” during a performance in 2015 and said “F–k Rich Homie” during a show in Santa Ana, Calif.

The “Type of Way” rapper said he and Young Thug weren’t on speaking terms during a 2017 interview with WEDR 99 JAMZ, as both artists explored their solo careers to varying degrees of commercial success.

“We don’t got no bad blood, but we don’t talk. We don’t talk every day like you would think we would talk every day. But we don’t got no bad blood. I just leave,” he said. “You know, it is what it is. I wish him the best.”

Rich Homie Quan passed away in September 2024 at the age of 33. His death was ruled an accidental drug overdose, according to a report from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Following Quan’s death, Thug admitted to feeling remorseful about never patching things up with RHQ prior to his passing.

“We don’t speak on the dead. R.I.P. the boy Quan. I wish we could have made amends before he died. I wish we could have made amends before he died. But he passed away,” Thug told Adin Ross during a livestream in October.

In other Thug news, he made The New York Times’ 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters list and took the stage at Coachella in April.
