Austrian logistics provider Gebrüder Weiss bought 14 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks in late 2025, and is pleased with their performance so far. The vehicles are deployed at the company’s locations in Vienna, Pöchlarn, Wels and Hall in Tyrol, as well as at its headquarters in Lauterach.
At Gebrüder Weiss, the eActros 600 is used both in regional transport and in more demanding line-haul and long-distance operations, enabled by the company’s own charging infrastructure.
“A company can only be successful in the long run if it operates sustainably and plans investments with a long-term perspective,” says Jürgen Bauer, Member of the Executive Board at Gebrüder Weiss. “That is why we opted early on for an electric strategy. The eActros 600 was the first vehicle to meet the range requirements of our network operations—and with Daimler Truck’s Europe-wide service network, the overall package aligns perfectly with our needs.”

A key pillar of the company’s electrification strategy is operating its own charging infrastructure. As public charging options for electric trucks are still insufficient in many regions, Gebrüder Weiss has established its own charging and energy supply systems at several locations in Austria and southern Germany. The energy is generated either from the company’s own photovoltaic systems or sourced from certified renewable electricity.
“Our customers expect reliability and punctuality,” says Stefan Oberhauser, Branch Manager Land & Logistics Vorarlberg at Gebrüder Weiss. “With our own energy supply, sustainable road transport can be implemented ideally. The vehicles can recharge while goods are being loaded or unloaded, without any additional downtime.”
“E-mobility [requires] a new mindset,” Oberhauser adds. “More planning, clean load management, and dispatching that intelligently integrates charging times.”
Gebrüder Weiss plans to add charging infrastructure at additional locations to operate routes even more independently of external charging stations. By the end of 2026, it plans to expand its electric fleet to a total of 25 Mercedes-Benz eActros trucks.
“The eActros 600 proves that electric trucks are no longer a vision of the future, but a reality—not only in distribution transport, but also in national and international long-distance haulage,” says Jens Tittel, Managing Director of Daimler Truck Austria. “A successful transformation requires the right products, a reliable charging infrastructure and customers who are willing to lead the way.”
