GM is on a golden road to the future with Cadillac, whose EV sales were still strong in the 4th quarter despite the loss of the $7,500 US EV tax credit. Cadillac buyers now see EVs as the top tech, the smoother drive, the quietest power. Cadillac EVs have the best new features, the most luxurious designs. So, Cadillac EV sales continue to roll forward, with the same percentage share of the brand’s auto sales in the 4th quarter as in the 2nd quarter.

Chevrolet, on the other hand … Oy.

Enormous Chevrolet EV Sales Drop in 4th Quarter

Chevrolet’s electric vehicles are sold on the basis of great value for the money. So, it’s understandable that they are taking a much bigger hit from the loss of the $7,500 tax credit. But the numbers really aren’t pretty. Here we go:

  • Chevy Equinox EV — 5,111 deliveries in Q4 2025, down 71.7% from 18,089 deliveries in Q4 2024
  • Chevy Blazer EV — 1,812 deliveries in Q4 2025, down 77% from 7,883 deliveries in Q4 2024
  • Chevy Silverado EV — 1,896 deliveries in Q4 2025, down 12.9% from 2,176 deliveries in Q4 2024

Well, the Silverado EV’s drop isn’t dramatic, but it’s low volume to low volume. The drop in sales from Chevrolet’s higher selling models, however, is stunning. That’s not uplifting. Hopefully it all turns back around in 2026 and these models bounce back dramatically, but I think we can assume they won’t be back to early 2025 levels, let alone Q3 2025 levels, anytime soon.

Oh, there were also the BrightDrop sales. They rose from 543 in Q4 2024 to 995 in Q4 2025, but they are apparently getting shut down. So, don’t expect much more from there.

I’m not going to do a separate article on GMC, so let’s also throw the Hummer EV in here. The Hummer EV (pickup and SUV version combined) is the only Hummer that GMC sells now. Its deliveries dropped from 5,091 in Q4 2024 to 2,555 in Q4 2025, a 49.8% drop.

Then there’s also the Sierra EV, a newer large EV. It was from 1,401 in Q4 2024 soon after the model was launched to 1,848 in Q4 2025, a 32% rise.

Because of Cadillac’s superb approach to EV development, marketing, and growth, I do have some hope for Chevrolet. I also think the Equinox EV is still one of the best value-for-money buys on the overall auto market. The company should be selling high volumes of these. However, GM leadership hasn’t been the most pro-EV, has cozied up to Donald Trump in the past, and seems to be easily giving up and scaling back its EV ambitions at Chevrolet. We’ll see where we go from here, but it’s probably not up in 2026 from 2025 — even with 2025’s horrendous 4th quarter.

Here were the full-year sales of the models mentioned above in 2025 vs. 2024:

  • Chevy Equinox EV — 57,945 vs. 28,874, +100.7%
  • Chevy Blazer EV — 22,637 vs. 23,115, -2.1%
  • Chevy Silverado EV — 11,275 vs. 7,428, +51.8%
  • BrightDrop 400/600 EV — 4,971 vs. 1,535, +223.8%
  • Hummer EV — 15,788 vs. 13,993, +12.8%
  • Sierra EV — 7,996 vs. 1,788, +347.2%

That’s a good year for GM EVs overall. But can it be repeated or bested in 2026?
