Roam is in talks to trade carbon-credit offsets from the motorcycles it produces as the Kenya-based electric-mobility startup undertakes a crowd-funding campaign to boost working capital.
Each of the motorcycles it sells offsets 3 tons of carbon dioxide annually. With about 4,000 units on the road, that amounts to roughly 12,000 tons annually, the same as what 2,600 typical passenger vehicles emit in the US.
