Prince Andrew has some royal changes ahead.
Nearly two weeks after the brother of King Charles III announced he would no longer use his titles or honors, including Duke of York, due to the “continued accusations” against him related to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the king announced he would implement even more distance between Andrew and the royal family.
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” Buckingham Palace wrote in an Oct. 30 statement. “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.”
In addition to removing “Prince” from his name, Andrew will have to move out of his royal residence at the Royal Lodge, with NBC News learning he will move to a home on Charles’ Sandringham estate. (His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who has also been living at Royal Lodge, will make her own arrangements.)
“His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence,” the statement continued. “Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.”
