Reza Rahadian‘s “On Your Lap” emerged as the biggest winner at the 30th Busan International Film Festival‘s Vision Awards ceremony, claiming four honors.
The Indonesian actor-turned-director’s debut feature swept the KB Vision Audience Award, Fipresci Award, Bishkek International Film Festival’s Central Asia Cinema Award, and the Face of the Future Award.
Tribeny Rai’s “Shape of Momo” secured dual honors with both the Songwon Vision Award and Taipei Film Commission Award.
The Netpac Award went to Natalia Uvarova’s “Malika,” while Kyrgyz filmmakers Erke Dzhumakmatova and Emil Atageldiev shared recognition for “Kurak,” which received both the Bangladesh July Memorial Prize and Vision of Jiseok Award.
Among the Hylife Vision Award recipients were Anshul Chauhan’s “Tiger” and Sanju Surendran’s “If on a Winter’s Night.” Iranian filmmaker Shahram Mokri’s “Black Rabbit, White Rabbit” took home the International Film Festival of India’s Vision Asia Award.
In the acting categories, Lee Seung-yeon earned actor of the Yyear recognition for “The Gorals,” while Moon Woo-jin received the same honor for his performance in “The Accordion Door.”
Korean cinema was well-represented, with Jeong Seung-o’s “Coming of Age” claiming both the DGK Plus M Award and Songwon Citizen Critics’ Award. Kim Jinyu’s “Journey There” also took home dual honors with the DGK Plus M Award and KBS Independent Film Award.
Lee Kwang-kuk’s “Beautiful Dreamer” received the CGV Award, while Son Kyeong-su’s “The Accordion Door” earned the Cine21 Award. The Critic b Award went to Lim Junghwan’s “The Observer’s Journal.”
In specialty categories, Vivek Chaudhary’s “I, Poppy” won the Busan Cinephile Award, Wang Mincheol’s “Where We Stay for a While” took the Documentary Audience Award, and Frederik Sølberg’s “Hana Korea” claimed the Flash Forward Audience Award.
