Fox Sports has launched a new creative campaign for “Big Noon Saturday” starring actor John Turturro. The campaign, titled “It All Goes Down At Noon,” is live across all Fox Sports social platforms and promotes the network’s college football game of the week.
In the campaign, the Emmy-nominated Turturro plays an obsessive college football fanatic in various videos where he excitedly watches games from a lair in Michigan’s Jumbotron. Throughout, he will make his way around the stadium, providing commentary on the sport and season, stalking announcer Gus Johnson and getting into the wacky mischief of an overzealous fan.
“As a passionate sports fan who suffers the slings and arrows of my favorite sports teams, I enjoyed partnering with Fox Sports,” Turturro said in a statement. “We’ve all been that person — riding the highs and lows, hanging on every play. Any sports fan has felt that.”
The campaign’s first video appeared during Fox College Football Friday’s matchup between Kansas State and Arizona on Sept. 12. Subsequent videos will appear on social media as well as in TV spots throughout the college football season, airing during other Fox Sports properties like Fox NFL, Fox MLB, MLB Postseason, and MLB World Series. “It All Goes Down at Noon” was developed and written by Gary Van Dzura of Mullen Lowe and directed by Brian Billow.
“This campaign represents everything we want Fox Sports to stand for – bold, authentic storytelling that connects fans, and combined with our world-class creative team, we’re delivering something that will resonate with audiences nationwide,” said Fox Sports senior vice president of on-air promotions Bill Battin.
Turturro is currently Emmy nominated ofr “Severance,” his second Emmy nod for the series. He has previously won an Emmy for “Monk”; his other credits include the films “Barton Fink,” “Do the Right Thing” and “The Big Lebowski,” as well as the TV shows “The Night Of” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”
