Benin’s ruling coalition on Sunday picked Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni as its candidate for the April 2026 presidential election, Agence France-Presse reported citing coalition members.
President Patrice Talon is stepping down after two terms, paving the way for Wadagni, who was endorsed by the Union Progressiste le Renouveau and le Bloc Républicain, the two parties also backing Talon.
